US Academician Rittmann Lectures on Microbial Photobioenergy in SHNU

27 七月 2014

SHNU: On July 17, Prof. Bruce E. Rittmann, Dean of Swette Environment and Biology Center of Arizona State University (ASU) and academician of US National Academy of Engineering, visited SHNU and made a report entitled "Microbial Photobioenergy -- Making CO2 a Resource, Not a Liability". This lecture also belongs to the lecture series celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of SHNU.
Prof. Rittmann started his lecture with the urgency of controlling CO2 density and probed further into such problems as how to choose the best biological method in carbon sequestration, how to transfer carbon into bioenergy and how to extract biomass with high economical efficiency. At the end of the lecture, Prof. Rittmann was flooded with questions from the audience, including SHNU teachers and graduate as well as undergraduate students, and high school students experiencing scientific research in SHNU as well as scholars from research institutes of Zhejiang and Suzhou.
