SHNU: The Orientation for the freshmen this semester was held on September 20 and 21. SHNU outstanding professors Su Zhiliang and Lu Jiamei were invited to give the first lesson to new students. The orientation program also included introduction of the situation of China as well as our university.

Prof. Su Zhiliang, Dean of the College of Humanities and Communication, historian and expert in Sino-Japanese relations, lectured on the past, present and future of Sino-Japanese relations. Prof. Lu Jiamei, Psychologist and national-level outstanding teacher, gave a lecture entitled "Mental Adjustment Helps a Talent’s Development". Their lectures were so informative and attractive that the students used an old Chinese saying to describe their feelings that they profited more from the lectures than from ten years of reading.

The university also invited military officers to give patriotism education by talking about stories of maintaining national sovereignty in Chinese waters and the fighting capacity of Chinese military forces.

Zhang Huida, former Director of SHNU Archives, was invited to introduce the history and status quo of the university to the new students.
