SHNU: On September 24, Prof. B. F. Spencer, Jr., chair professor of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and academician of Polish Academy of Sciences, accepted the letter of appointment from SHNU President Zhu Ziqiang and engaged as honorary professor of SHNU College of Civil Engineering.
On that afternoon, Prof. Spencer gave a lecture on the research and development of wireless sensor and its value in the field of infrastructure construction, almost involving everything from bridges to tunnels. Students asked lots of questions after the lecture and expressed admiration for Spencer’s extensive learning.
This lecture, the first one of the serial lectures belonging to the Seminar of Development and Outlook for Civil Engineering, was also held to celebrate the 60th founding anniversary of the university.
