SHNU delegation took part in the 5th Annual Conference of WFCMS (World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies) Specialty Committee of Translation that was held on October 25 in Hubei University of Chinese Medicine.
Professor Li Zhaoguo, President of the WFCMS Specialty Committee of Translation and Dean of SHNU Foreign Languages College of SHNU, made a key speech at the opening ceremony. He talked about the bottleneck for the development of the translation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), described the bright future and pointed out that the cultivation of talents in this field was essential for the development of TCM translation.
Over 60 experts and scholars from the U.S., Austria, Greece and China had a heated discussion on issues concerning problems in TCM translation, standardization of translation of TCM terms as well as teaching staff construction of TCM.
The organization committee of the conference selected 5 pieces of excellent academic papers and issued certificates of honor to the authors. SHNU professor Yuan Surong’s paper was among the five excellent ones.
WFCMS Specialty Committee of Translation was established in 2008 and the secretariat is headquartered in SHNU.
