SHNU: The 8th International Forum of Social History in Jiangnan (regions south of the Yangtze River), sponsored by SHNU Research Center of Modern Chinese Society, was held in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province from October 31 to November 2.
Experts and scholars from Fudan University, Nanjing University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Weng Tonghe Memorial, The University of Hong Kong, Korea University, Taiwan Academia Sinica and Japanese Hokkaido University of Education made keynote speeches at the opening ceremony, which was presided over by SHNU Professor Tang Lixing.
The theme of the forum was Jiangnan Literature and Jiangnan Society. The forum received 32 academic papers, its contents covering many fields of social researches of Jiangnan.
The academic forum has been held for 8 years in a row. With the new and high quality research outputs, the forum has exerted a positive influence in the academic circle. Its journal, Historical Comments on Jiangnan Society, has become an important platform for publishing the latest research results in Jiangnan.
