Sponsored by UNESCO Teacher Education Center, the Welcome Ceremony of Shanghai Mathematics Learning Events for Tanzanian Policymakers and Educators was held in Shanghai at On December 11th, and involved participants from the UNESCO, the Bank of World, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Tanzanian government, and teachers’ colleges,primary and middle school math teachers and education experts.
The SHNU Yuan reviewed the friendly cooperative history between SHNU and Tanzanian education departments and institutes and expected that the potential of establishing a cooperative education center between UNESCO Education Center and Tanzanian Education Research Institute should be tapped to broaden and deepen the scope of education fusion between China and Tanzania.
The Learning Events Program falls into two groups: education officials’ group and teachers’ group.
Particularly, the teachers’ group members would initiate their four-day immersive math exchange learning tour by visiting SFLS (Shanghai Foreign Language School Affiliated to Shanghai International Studies University) and Yangjing-Juyuan Experimental School. A series of vivid intercultural math courses will be brought to the students by both cooperative teaching planning from both Tanzanian and Chinese teachers.
In March 2023, the first batch of Tanzanian education officials and international education organizations arrived in Shanghai to experience the education of Shanghai patterns. This August, the first batch of Shanghai teachers’ volunteers from UNESCO researchers visited local Tanzanian primary and middle schools for a three-week math education research and education programs.
The benefited schools achieved impressive progress at National math exams, which embodied the efforts Shanghai education have made in facilitating education in a broader, more inclusive, and more proactive and interactive way.
