The 2024 SHNU New Year Concert was held in the East Concert Hall of Xuhui Campus on December 29th and attended by representatives from primary education group, SHNU international students and other SHNU teachers and students. More than 200 SHNU teachers and students from College of Music performed with their vigour and expertise.
The short video “2023 We Are Together” reviews various achievements SHNU has made in fields of talent cultivation, students education, scientific research and social services. The SHNU Party Secretary Lin Zaiyong and SHNU President Yuan Wen, on behalf of the university, extended their gracious New Year’s Greetings to people from all walks of life and particularly, alumni at home and abroad. The students of the School of Fine Arts created and presented the calligraphy work “Xianglong Takes off” at the concert.
Those SHNU staffs winning key national or provincial awards, such as Shanghai Outstanding Education Awards, National Key Projects of Social Sciences, National Key Development Plan Project, and National Special Support Plan for High-ranking Talents, received celebrated greetings on the stage.
With three themes of Initial Struggling, Chasing Future and Leading Beliefs, the concert fused folk music performance, dancing, chorus singing and vocal solo, feasting the audience with the glamour and vitality of Southern China culture and Shanghai culture.
The music show also included Guzheng(Chinese Zithe) songs, indoor music troupe, accordions and dancing performances. The recital from an international student majoring in music performance from Mozambique chanted the poem from Bai Juyi, a well-known poet in Tang Dynasty.
Xuesi Lake New Year Concert is a campus culture boutique built by the school for more than ten years, and is a traditional way for Shanghai Normal University people to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the New Year. Let us be full of beautiful yearning for the future, jointly welcome the 70th anniversary of the school, and create a new chapter in the development of high quality school.
