On June 18th, an academic salon themed Urban and Economic Geography Research for Young Scholars and Postgraduates was held at SHNU College of Environment and Geographical Sciences. It even invited Thomas Sigler, senior researcher of the University of Queensland, Ben Derudder, Vice Director of GaWC and professor from Ghent University in Belgium as well as Jamie Peck, professor from University of British Columbia (UBC). The salon lasted one day and was quite popular among young scholars and postgraduates.
A discussion was held themed Would Sharing Economy Save Our City. They discussed the pros and cons of sharing economy; also, a series of issues and derivatives were probed.
On the same day, an academic seminar Model Changes and Co-evolution of International Urban Network was led by Professor Ben Derudder. After that, Professor Jamie Peck spoke about Rapid Policy Research of Local City Governments.
