SHNU: The other day, an international symposium on Astrophysics with the theme Galaxy Evolution: Infrared to Millimeter Wavelength Perspective was held in Guilin, Guangxi province. It was hosted by SHNU and co-hosted by Harvard University, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Chinese Astronomical Society, etc.
Prof. Ji Peiwen, Director of Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences of NSFC, and SHNU Vice President Lu Jianfei spoke at the meeting. Lu said SHNU would promote the international cooperation of research projects and guarantee its operation on all aspects.
100 odd experts and scholars from 17 countries attended the symposium, among which there were over 10 academicians from Europe and the United States. The attendants introduced their latest research fruits and had a heated discussion on the main research orientation of Astrophysics: the formation and evolution of galaxy.
During recent years, with its municipal key laboratory-Galaxies and Cosmology Semi-analytical Research Laboratory, SHNU has done large amount of research work in this field.
