SHNU:The CIUB (Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana) Board of Advisors Meeting was held in SHNU on December 8. Before the meeting, SHNU President Li Jin and Vice President Lu Jianfei met with delegates from UB. Li extended a warm welcome to the UB delegation on behalf of the university. He said governments of both countries had given a lot of support to CI and that CI had developed fairly well with the joint efforts of SHNU and UB. Li also expressed gratitude to all those contributing to the successful operation of the institute. Prof. Frank Youngman, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of UB, thanked SHNU for having offered two great Chinese deans of CI--Prof. Hua Hua and Prof. Fang Xujun, saying they had a very nice experience working together. Prof. Youngman also invited SHNU to visit his university. The ensuing CIUB Board of Advisors Meeting covered a series of issues including discussion on the new member of Advisors Board Meeting; confirmation of minutes of the last Board of Advisors Meeting held last September; implementation issues concerning CIUB instructors and Chinese teaching staff at CIUB; drafting CIUB 5-year Strategic Plan, etc. In the SHNU-UB Partnership Meeting, Prof. Youngman remarked that 2010 has been a good start for wide cooperation between SHNU and UB. The two sides signed the “20+20 Agreement in 2011&2012” which is an exchange program between the two universities. The two parties swapped ideas on the implementation of the “20+20 Agreement” including the schedule, contact persons and details for each projects. Both sides were looking forward to developing deep cooperation with each other. Finally, the two sides agreed to work out a detailed project program by the end of next January.
