08 May 2014

After the first activity of the “Experiencing China—Chinese Culture Tour in Botswana” held by the CI of the University of Botswana gained popularity in 7 primary and middle schools last year, this year CI held the second round of the activity the other day.

With the principle of publicizing the Chinese language and culture, this cultural tour will last for 11 days and visit 5 middle schools in remote areas of Botswana.

The first station, Badale JSS, is situated in Mathathane of Botswana. SHNU teachers of CI started the whole activity with Taichi, yangko (a popular rural folk dance ), martial arts, Chinese songs, cucurbit flute and folk costume show. Teachers and students of Badale JSS performed carefully prepared local songs and dances to express their gratitude for guests from the CI.

After the performance, students joined in different teams to experience Chinese culture including Chinese language, paper cut, film appreciation, martial arts, Chinese songs as well as the Chinese torch dance. Particularly, passionate students asked Chinese teachers to give them Chinese names and they greeted each other with newly learned Chinese phrases.
