SHNU: On April 20, SHNU Party Secretary Teng Jianyong and President Zhu Ziqiang respectively received the delegation from University of Cumbria, UK that was headed by Peter Strike, President of the university. After discussions on such aspects as teacher and student exchange, academic cooperation, and co-construction of disciplines, the two parties agreed to establish long-term stable relationship and signed the MOU between the two universities.
Teng Jianyong and Zhu Ziqiang expressed the most sincere welcome to the delegation and introduced SHNU’s history, school-running features, discipline advantages and international development. Peter Strike gave high expectations to the prospect of the interscholastic cooperation, saying the cooperation between the two universities, both featuring teacher education, would be beneficial to each other.
Officially founded in 1896, the University of Cumbria developed from a teacher education college. Up to now, the university has developed into a comprehensive university whose subjects toped the comprehensive ranking in arts, design, education and nursing. The university is the biggest teacher and nursing specialists training bases in UK and has outstanding experiences in special education, pre-school education and elementary school education.
