Confucius Institute of Botswana Extends Chinese Culture to Distant Countryside

    SHNU: On May 5th, some staff members of the Confucius Institute (CI) of University of Botswana (UB) went to remote rural areas of Botswana to promote Chinese language and culture. They visited 5 middle schools at the border of southwest, east and northeast of the Botswana. The activity was supported and funded by the Chinese Embassy in Botswana and the National Ministry of Education of Botswana.
    The CI donated footballs, books and T-shirts with a CI Botswana mark to local schools. The ambassador of Chinese Embassy in Botswana arrived at the scene and expressed hope to strengthe ties between the people of two countries. After that, public Chinese classes were offered for free, as well as some traditional Chinese arts activities, including calligraphy, martial arts, Chinese folk songs, paper-clipping, and Chinese games, etc.
