Education Delegation from UK Visits SHNU

SHNU: On March 29th, Nick Gibb, led an Education Delegation from UK to visit SHNU for a seminar about Shanghai education, math education and Shanghai-England math teacher exchanges. The delegation also aimed at possibilities of more cooperation in terms of teacher exchanges.
 
 
The delegation was received by Zhu Ziqiang, SHNU President, Zhang Minxuan, Director of International Education Research Center and math teachers’ representatives. Zhang probed on the Shanghai secrets for the top performance in PISA, characteristics of Chinese math education, factors for teacher education in TALIS, and expectations for further professional exchange. He also mentioned 4 traditional factors and 8 modern factors of Shanghai secrets. Both sides had discussions about the future of cooperation in boosting the education in two countries. Gibb also expressed his hope of sending more British math teachers to be trained in SHNU.
 
Gibb is the second important official of Ministry of Education in UK, after Elizabeth Truss, who paid a visit to SHNU in February 2014. During his trip in China, Gibb will also visit some middle school and primary schools in Shanghai, Zhejiang province and Beijing.
