SHNU: Recently, teachers and students from the Confucius Institute (CI) of University of Missouri (MU) joined the multicultural festival held at Thomas Jefferson High School in the city of Columbia, Missouri.
The dean Dr. Ouyang of CI of MU paid great attention to this opportunity for CI teachers to be with local teachers and students of the high school, and he designed the songs and forms of the show.
The show incorporates various ethnic characteristics, including the passionate African drums and joyful Scotland bagpipe, etc. The CI teachers staged folk songs of Chinese Lagu people, accompanied by melodious cucurbit flute.
The arts show aroused the American students’ interest in the Chinese traditional culture as well as the Chinese language. This is also a chance to present to American students the cultural glamour of Chinese ethnic groups.
