On the morning of November 5th, Dr. Silvia Carrascal, President of San Jorge University in Spain, visited Shanghai Normal University (SHNU). Vice President Li Ye and the head of the International Exchange Office attended the reception. The two parties held discussions on interscholastic cooperation and promotion of faculty and student exchanges. During the meeting, Li Ye expressed the warm welcome from SHNU to President Carrascal. He highlighted the academic strengths of SHNU in teacher education, humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields, as well as recent achievements in international collaboration. He mentioned that China and Spain have maintained friendly exchanges for a long time, and SHNU has established a solid foundation for cooperation with Spanish institutions. He looked forward to jointly establishing summer schools in the future to create platforms for faculty and student exchange, while leveraging the partnership to facilitate industrial collaboration and resource alignment between China and Spain, achieving coordinated development in education and industry. President Carrascal shared the current challenges of San Jorge University in Chinese language teaching, including resource shortages and developmental needs, and clearly expressed her desire to collaborate with SHNU in areas such as shared Chinese language teaching resources and faculty training, aiming to enhance the university Chinese language teaching standards.
