On November 22nd, the School of Information and Mechanic Engineering held a symposium on the 40th anniversary of the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Shanghai Normal University(SHNU) and the development of its academic disciplines at the SHNU UNESCO Teacher Education Center. Nearly 200 attendees, including former leaders of the computer science department and its affiliated schools, retired faculty members, alumni representatives,experts, and faculty and student representatives, gathered together to discuss the future development directions of the department.
In his speech, Vice President Jiang Mingjun of SHNU fully acknowledged the achievements of the Computer Science Department over its forty-year history and encouraged everyone to strive for scientific research excellence and contribute to the self-reliance and self-improvement of technology. During the conference, the appointment ceremony for part-time professors in the training of computer science teacher candidates was held. Jiang Mingjun presented certificates to ten senior experts in basic education, including Chen Yong, Principal of Southwest Weiyu High School in Shanghai; Zhou Chun, Researcher in Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence for Primary and Junior High Schools at Minhang District Education College in Shanghai; Xi Jun, Director of the Information Center at Fuxing High SchoolAttached to Fudan University; Zhou Ye, Assistant Headmaster of Wenzhong High School in Shanghai, etc. The part-time professors will serve as external mentors for the 2023 class of the "Computer Science Heritage Class.".
After the meeting, the college organized a mentor introduction session for the "Computer Heritage Class" and a "When 95 Meets 25" life mentor salon event.
