SHNU Co-hosted China International Forum on Basic Education

From December 13thto 14th, the China International Forum on Basic Education (CICBE 2025) was held in Shanghai. Co-organized by the China Education Association, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai Normal University(SHNU), and the People's Government of Jiading District, Shanghai, the forum focused on the theme "Artificial Intelligence Development and Educational Transformation—Opportunities and Challenges.".

Deputy Minister of Education Ren Youqun delivered a video speech, stating that the Chinese Society of Education serves as a crucial window for China's high-level international educational exchanges. The International Forum on Basic Education in China provides an important platform for global basic education practitioners to exchange ideas, share experiences, and discuss the future together.

Zhu Zhiwen, President of the China Education Association, and Wu Xinbao, along with Sohail Shaikh (Shi Ruiyao), Deputy Trade Envoy of the UK to China, attended the forum and delivered speeches. Representatives from international organizations, including Xia Zehan, Director of the UNESCO Office for East Asia and the Pacific, Pimanda Bimanda, Deputy Representative of UNICEF in China, Kristian Eide, Director of the Education Practice Department for East Asia and the Pacific at the World Bank, and Costanza Farina, Acting Director of the UNESCO International Bureau of Education, also addressed the forum. Attendees included Guan Peijun, Vice President of the China Higher Education Association and former Deputy Director-General of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, Tian Zuyin, Vice President of the China Education Association and Director of the Basic Education Department, Qin Changwei, Secretary-General of the National Committee of UNESCO, Zhou Yaming, Vice President of the China Education Association, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and Director of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Chen Heng, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Shanghai Normal University, Gao Xiang, Deputy Party Secretary and District Chief of Shanghai Jiading District, and Ding Hao, Deputy President of Beijing Foreign Studies University.

On the afternoon of the 13thand the morning of the 14th, the forum featuredfive parallel sub-forums, where leading talents and renowned experts in education and artificial intelligence from nearly 70 countries across 13 nations gathered to delve into practical approaches and innovative achievements of AI-enabled foundational education through thematic reports and round-table discussions.  

In the future, Shanghai Normal University will gradually pilot and explore the role of artificial intelligence in driving educational transformation, accelerating the integration and conversion of knowledge and technology based on interdisciplinary collaboration, and cultivating innovative interdisciplinary talents.
