Shanghai Normal University Hosts 2026 International Students’ Welcome Party

On December 26th, the 2026 International Student Welcome Party of Shanghai Normal University was held in the Eastern Concert Hall of the Xuhui Campus. International students from around the world, alumni of the Shanghai International Student Preparatory School, and university leaders gathered together to enjoy this cross-border cultural feast. The SHNU Vice Party Committee Secretary Zhang Yejiang, the SHNU Vice Party Committee Secretary and Vice SHNU President Zhu Huijun, the SHNU Vice President Jiang Mingjun, and leaders from various colleges of SHNU attended the event.

The SHNU Vice President, Jiang Mingjun, delivered a New Year's speech. He first extended heartfelt New Year greetings on behalf of the university to all international students, whose number reached 1,661, a year-on-year increase of 42%. He also mentioned that SHNU International students have consistently achieved outstanding results in dragon boat races, academic competitions, and cultural and sports events.

The opening performance of the gala was the waltz "On the Keyboard," followed by the traditional Chinese dance "Goddess with Hairpins." Programs such as the Vietnam-Laos fusion dance "The Spirit of Vietnam," the Russian comedic musical "Happy Felt Boots," and the Kazakh traditional dance "Kamazai" showcased the cultural charm of different countries. Chinese works like the chorus "Light in the Heart," the recital "Journey of Poetry," and the situational drama "My Life as an International Student in China," along with the powerful performance of the Chinese drum and martial arts display "Wu Dong Shan He," and the majestic Mongolian long-tune song "Pulse of the Grassland," further enriched the event. The musical "This Is Me" and the finale "Let Us Be Together," accompanied by a cultural showcase of various countries, brought the event to its climax.

Nearly 600 Chinese and foreign students gathered together at this welcome party, fostering joy through interaction among students of diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
